Round One: The Edge of Romance

'The Edge Of Romance'

Welcome models, to the first round of 'beau', and your first photo shoot. I'm really excited for this round, it should produce some beautiful photographs and will test your abilities. This is a difficult industry, so we're aiming to guide you through the process of creating a portfolio that will stand out.

Your shoot today embraces the theme of romance and elegance, but twisted with an edgier look. You'll all be styled dancer-like, yes including you boys. It's time to embrace the metro sexual male in you! Essentially, the round is based on dance and ballet, however it is not necessary for your pose to reflect this. Your styling will feature both soft, flowing, romantic elements, and harsher, dark, edgy elements that will really tie the image together.

This is a full body shot.

styling.
boys.
You boys will be modeling topless, showing your bare chest. From waist down you will be wearing leggings.
This can be paired with striking, heavy boots, or be barefoot.
Your key item (which is essential) is a big, over sized bow around your neck. It can be of any design.
The rest of your outfit, is up to you, but bear in mind "biker ballerina". Think of incorporating items such as a leather jacket, a waistcoat or braces, or for the softer look, a frilled open opaque shirt or cardigan. Use your initiative.

girls.
The base of your outfit girls is elegant lace lingerie, and the leggings.
Your key item (which is essential) are extremely pointed shoes as seen in the examples. Uncomfortable, I know.
The rest of your outfit is up to you, but bear in mind "biker ballerina". Think of incorporating items such as a tulle skirt, opaque blouse, or for the harsher look, a leather jacket or black knitwear. Use your initiative.

hair & makeup.
The makeup for both the boys & girls must have a pale base, including very pale lips. It is compulsory to have thick, dark, overly dramatic eyebrows, even if you're pale haired.

As for hair, it can either be down naturally, or styled, but it must essentially be messy, with flyaway strands; maybe slightly backcombed.

backgrounds.

The background has a sepia, slightly desaturated base, with slight purple tones. The lighting of your image should reflect this. Blend in. You can use either background, no need to claim which. Do not resize.

deadline.
Monday 19th July @ 9pm GMT.
Extensions available if necessary. Please give notice.

BARRY
Positive Feedback:
One of the most dynamic poses of the bunch! Your picture is so captivating, and really interesting to look at. You have this great sense of masculinity, regardless of the effeminate bow. Fantastic shading, with good knowledge of using light source, you definitely found the light in this picture.
Negative Feedback:
I'm not sure about your expression. You look less attractive than you did in your application, it might purely be the straight on angle of your face, but I think you can look better. Also, whilst you can edit amazingly, it's okay for your sim to look more sim like as this is a sim editing contest, and realism isn't a priority.
Suggested Improvements:
Try different facial angles, it's still early in the contest but for future rounds experiment with your angles and your expression. Also, same as Hikaru, you can edit to a very high standard, and I can tell that your model is a sim, so it qualifies. Just don't feel like you HAVE to edit so excessively to achieve a good picture as it's not all that is judged in this contest. Well done this week, a great shot.

DYLAN
Positive Feedback:
I'm really attracted to the raw simplicity of this shot, I find it very captivating and pleasing to look at. I'm getting a strong sensual, sexual vibe from your photograph which I assume was your representation of "dirty romance". The structure of your body is very impressive, I think you would be very suitable of underwear campaigns. The shading is well executed and not overdone.
Negative Feedback:
I am slightly thrown off by your choice of bow. Whilst I find it's placement interesting, I think the choice of colour isn't suitable for the desaturated pink tones of the overall image.
Suggested Improvements:
There aren't any big improvements to advise you of this round, as I believe you have achieved a great first round image. However, small things such as getting the coherence of colour and tone wrong in the image can hurt you artistically. Hopefully you agree the bow could have worked better in an alternative tone and will keep that in mind during future rounds. Otherwise, fantastic job this week.

EVIA
Positive Feedback:
Your pose is really creative, and I love your choice of outfit, especially the lace top. I think you really considered how to create an interesting looking image.
Negative Feedback:
However I feel you might have over looked a few things, the light source being one of the most obvious. Your shadow is set behind and to the right of you, but the way your face is lit up contradicts this so be careful to shade correctly. Your hair is also drawn stiffly, and looks very heavy and straw like.
Suggested Improvements:
When drawing hair, try to add fluidity. Even when blowing in the wind, unlike your picture here, not ALL of you hair will be blown to the side. Remember that hair is in layers, study the shape, and even drawing from reference might help you. Don't forget to add highlights where the light hits your hair, and shadows at darker areas of the hair (such as around the back of the neck).

FLORIAN
Positive Feedback:
I like how casual, and nonchalant this is, there's something so "test shot" about your pose but I think it works. I like your expression here and thank god, someone finally remembered to incorporate thick eyebrows as requested in the brief!
Negative Feedback:
I think the shading on the arms is perhaps a little undefined, the shading appears like too much of a gradient, and I know you can achieve stronger than this. Also, whilst I like that you stepped out of the box with the neck piece, it isn't a bow, which was what was asked of you to wear.
Suggested Improvements:
A decent picture this week Florian. Generally, to improve, just take on board what I mentioned about your shading, perhaps a smaller brush and a bit more time spent on it. Otherwise, great week this week!

HIKARU
Positive Feedback:
Such a daring, striking pose. You must have some incredible body strength to enable you to capture a shot like this, but it is definitely memorable and impressive. Alongside this creative pose, is your calm, collected expression which I'm also impressed by. The general presentation of your image is clean and well edited, and your choice of bow was very suitable.
Negative Feedback:
It is difficult for me to find negative feedback, as your image is so beautiful. However, I will state one apprehension I do have. You are an incredibly talented digital artist, and whilst Hikaru is shaded immaculately, and I DO believe this is a sim, I just want to warn you from over-editing your images too much away from that sim-like appearance. I appreciate your editing capabilities, and I'm in no way condemning you at all, it's more of a note to keep in mind.
Suggested Improvements:
I hope you don't take my comments the wrong way, as you have produced a fantastic image this round as a model, not just as an editor. Just a note to keep in mind is to not depend on your editing capabilities, as you need to prove your modeling abilities too, which, you have done this round, so well done. If you do however reach makeovers, I feel that a haircut is in order...

KIM
Positive Feedback:
I love your pale skin tone, it really sets you apart from the other models! I love your pose and posture here, and I am so in love with your profile. You have one of my favourite faces in the competition already Kim, and I love that you experimented with a profile! I like your subtle choice of bow. I also love your figure, defined but not overly so.
Negative Feedback:
I think your hair could have been a bit messy, more ruffled than it is, I think it's too neat for what was asked. Also, your skin, I understand it's pale but the way it's shaded makes it appear...green for me. Watch out for that.Otherwise, I can't really find a flaw that bothers me about your picture this week.
Suggested Improvements:
Just make sure that your picture complies with every element asked for in the brief, in this case your hair isn't quite messy enough. I understand the guys with shorter hair, but I do think you have enough to have made it a bit messier. Also, I think you need to practice shading your skin so that it doesn't look this tone again. Fantastic picture this week in my opinion, sometimes simplicity is key.

LARA
Positive Feedback:
Okay I love your face. You're so exotic, definitely see some Adriana in you! I also love your wild hair in this, and it's a breath of fresh air to see someone put that extra effort into interacting with the background, i.e the chair.
Negative Feedback:
I'm not a fan of your styling this round, which is a surprise! I just don't think your lingerie choice, combined with your skirt that looks like a little bathroom towel, works at all. The colours, the style...it's just off. And that massive grey thing billowing in the wind behind you is too much, and too distracting. It all comes off a bit too 'try hard' I'm sorry to say. I think your hair drawing could improve a bit too.
Suggested Improvements:
I know you're capable of much better in terms of styling, so remember to keep your fashion head on at all times As for hair, the key thing for you to keep in mind: more tones. I think the colours you use are too similar, making it come off flat. It's also not falling in natural directions in certain places. Practice by tracing references, or drawing alongside them just so you gain a better understanding.

LEOMA
Positive Feedback:
Absolutely gorgeous outfit, your skirt is divine, I love it's sculptural qualities. Your shoes are also amazing. I love the movement in your picture, and I think you landed a great angle for your face, you look really capable of fashion modeling.
Negative Feedback:
You appear very very skinny at the waist, but I believe it is because your back is arched slightly, and the angle of the shot. Just watch out you don't come across too thin. I also think the ribbon climbing the legs is a bit much, just a little distracting but that's a matter of taste. Oh, and whilst you clearly have nice pink tones in this picture that match the lighting, I do feel the colours are over saturated to match the background.
Suggested Improvements:
Great picture for your first week, watch your angles to ensure you don't come across too thin, and watch for lighting, but otherwise keep it up girl!

LUCAS
Positive Feedback:
I love your eyebrows. You really took the "thick eyebrow" request on board, and I love your profile too. Gosh, there's some gorgeous profiles on the guys in this contest. Your hair is drawn beautifully, I am actually in love with your skills there. I like that you too are interacting with the chair...
Negative Feedback:
However something isn't quite right about your attempt at it. Your foot doesn't quite appear to be on the chair. I'm also struggling to like your bow choice. Same as with Dylan and Thomas, I just don't like the colour blue alongside the lighting of the set.
Suggested Improvements:
A pretty good shot from you this week, there's nothing hugely wrong with it, so this is hard for me. Just bear in mind the aesthetics as the picture in terms of lighting, colouring and little elements of execution to bring your pictures that bit closer to perfection.

MEREYA
Positive Feedback
So much love for this. I love your position in the shot, and whilst your pose lacks drama, I adore the simplicity of it and your stance. I adore your outfit, the lacy basque-like top is beautiful and that skirt is IMPECCABLE. The hair & it's movement is great, very natural, and I love your expression.
Negative Feedback:
I don't really like the whole ribbon-climbing the legs look a few of you have going on. I just think it's a bit cliche. That's really a matter of taste though. Other than that, I can't see anything I dislike!
Suggested Improvements:
You've shown us immediately you have great potential to model AND create well executed shots in terms of editing. A force to be reckoned with, push yourself now, take risks rather than stay safe, and prove to us even more than you are versatile, daring and deserving of the praise we're giving you. Oh, and tell Ryan how you have such amazing shading and drawing skills. I think that would be wise too, haha!

NICOLE
Positive Feedback:
That pose must hurt! But it is so amazing for the shot, bringing such attention to the extravagant shoes, a key aspect this round. I like the dark brows on you too, makeover inspiration perhaps? I also like your simple choice of top, it's the perfect shade of pink, it's really fitting with the surroundings and lighting.
Negative Feedback:
Your hair isn't the best in this picture. Blonde is difficult to master, but I just think there's simply not enough separation between the colour tones used in this case, it's making your hair come off flat, and fairly lifeless looking.
Suggested Improvements:
Use more colours when you draw hair, or at least colours that have more variety in tone so that your hair has more body too it. Don't forget to add highlights and shadows, to help the appear as if it's falling in layers.

THOMAS
Positive Feedback:
I like the movement in your image, it's always interesting to see a model move on set. I appreciate your effort in developing additional items to your outfit such as the waistcoat. There is strong emotion coming from your expression, which is a good thing, however...
Negative Feedback:
I feel that your picture lacks romance, and is overly focused on the edgy side. Your expression is one of a growl, and whilst any emotion is better than no emotion, I do not think it is the most attractive expression that you are capable of. I also find your bow colour, in such a strong blue hue is inappropriate for the colour setting of the round. Your makeup should have been more natural as stated in the round requirements and your lips pale.
Suggested Improvements:
Remember to read through the round requirements carefully, ensuring that you take every requirement on board, and fulfill the brief with a strong a photo as possible. I do believe you are capable of a stronger image than what you provided this round, so if you move on to the next round, work hard to impress me and the judges that much more!

BARRY
Positive Feedback:
Your picture captured me right away, Barry. Such a gorgeous pose! You definitely know how to fill the space of a room. I do love the contrast of soft fabrics and your apparently chisel hard muscles. You stayed nicely with the color scheme given, and I’m stunned by the detail you worked out in shading and attire.
Negative Feedback:
As Karlie already said, your expression looks somewhat off. Maybe it is just the angle of the face. With all that movement in your body your head seems awkwardly fixed to stare at the camera frontally.
Suggested Improvements:
So all I have to suggest is that you should try different angles of your face and find one that matches with the movement of your pose. I could imagine it would look good if you turned your view more toward your left elbow, your right hand in the air or even your right knee. You have so much potential, don’t be afraid of the lens in front you. It won’t bite, even if you don’t look at it.

DYLAN
Positive Feedback:
I love your expression, Dylan. It goes so well with your pose. There seems to be a whole story behind this shot. You did a great job on sculpturing your body. The highlights scream a sweaty workout just finished The shading of the fabric follows the gesture nicely, great work!
Negative Feedback:
*sigh* the bow, Dylan. It’s the color, that doesn’t go with anything in your picture. It looks strangely out of place. I’m not saying that its use as a head ornament is wrong, but with your pose it gets placed too much at the edge of the shot. For an accessory that draws the view as much as this different colored bow it is not a preferable placement.
Suggested Improvements:
One can see, Dylan, although you are really into this shooting, you have difficulties to warm up to the idea of wearing a bow around your neck. Loosen up boy! Make up a little story for yourself, like being a special present for your lover, or whatever may help you to feel more at ease. Integrate required accessories by harmonizing the colors in your edit. Keep in mind that room colors reflect and subsequently tinge all objects.

EVIA
Positive Feedback:
Ah, good girl, dance is in your blood! Your pose shows wonderfully that you are not afraid to show what’s in you, very poised. I love your outfit, the lacy top and especially the pointed slippers! Who would have thought of dancing in those and they work great with you, as we can see.
Negative Feedback:
I’m sad to see your hair takes so much movement away from your pose. It seems to be stiffly blown to the side, which makes me thing you fight against a heavy wind. Also your body appears a little flat and the light situation in your picture confuses me. Your right arm is highlighted from a different angle than your face.
Suggested Improvements:
Stick to one main light source in your picture. Keep in mind the shapes of your body and where the light would hit. You actually determined where the light comes from with the shadow your body throws against the wall. Be a little less hesitant to set darker shadows and stronger highlights, for example on your left arm. A little more flow in your hair, a few waves would definitely enhance your beautiful movement.

FLORIAN
Positive Feedback:
Here we have a manly pose! *rawr* Who said dancers were girlish! And your face expresses this exactly! I love it, one of the best expressions in this round. I’m also quite happy that you chose the light coming from above; it emphasizes your great self confidence and that you know where you stand.
Negative Feedback:
Florian, although I like the feathers you used instead of a bow, Karlie is right, it’s not what was asked for. What I really don’t like in your picture are your shiny boots. They don’t fit with the subdued and soft tones of the picture. A minor thing that you might want to watch is that your proportions seem slightly off. It’s not much and not really affecting the overall appearance, I just say this for you to take a second look at your edits. (Your neck seems a little too long, as do your thighs; and your right hand looks a little too small)---
Suggested Improvements:
Keep an eye on the proportions, it’s only little things here, but if you want to improve, step back and look at your picture, or mirror it, that helps to see little hitches you missed. You should really step back to look at your picture, you probably would have noticed, how the shine of your boots draws all attention. Try to balance the highlights in your edit better; we don’t want to be distracted from your beautiful face.
I really recommend you stick to the requirements given in each round. A faux pas like your feather neck piece will cost you points in the future. If you are not sure of how wide you are allowed to stretch the requirements, Ryan will always be happy to answer your questions.

HIKARU
Positive Feedback:
Hikaru, perfect picture! With your extravagant pose you filled the space perfectly. I’m happy to see Goth/Biker accessories contrasting the shiny bow around your neck. It stands out with it s crispness from the subdued shading of your body, which is excellent as always.
Negative Feedback:
As I said, a perfect edit Hikaru. Although, I do miss a story or a statement behind your picture. All it seems to say is: You want it? I can do it. We are always glad to have willing models, and your looks and attitude I’m sure are perfect for the modeling business.
Suggested Improvements:
There is really not much to improve. I’m a fan of your editing. But I would like to see you open up a little and let us see a few bits of the person that you are Hikaru. I’m sure we will see a lot of you in the future.

KIM
Positive Feedback:
Definitely you are showing us a metro guy here. It’s a nice change compared to all the well defined bodies to see a youthful stature. Modeling isn’t all about muscle. I like the fact that you didn’t shy away from using make up.
Negative Feedback:
There are two little things to criticize: for once your position in the scene. There’s nothing wrong with standing on the edge of a shot, but you look like walking out of the scene … or the photographer was to slow. LOL. Second, what strikes me as a bit awkward is that your skin looks greenish with this warm-colored background.
Suggested Improvements:
If you have pale skin, the colors of the room and light reflect even more on your body. In this round there was a color scheme given. Try to use room colors for your shading.
The pose of walking out of the picture is very difficult and can be alluring, if you manage to take the room with you. That means you have to look out for the spaces of the picture and how they are bound together by shapes or actions. For example, if you were connected to something on the other side of the scene, like you dragged your bow behind on a string – which I don’t know that it would have been legitimate in this round, since it was asked for a bow around the neck. So this is just a picture to explain what I mean.

LARA
Positive Feedback:
Such a beautiful face! And you show really great movement with your pose. Your flowing hair, the extravagant outfit; you have personality and are not afraid to show it. Also you took the extra journey to incorporate the chair of the background, which is a huge challenge in this case and I admire you for it.
Negative Feedback:
As I said, your outfit is wonderful. But what is that dark grey stuff in your back? You went without a distinct source of light in your picture, which makes your hair a look flat.
Suggested Improvements:
The shadow of the chair should give you an idea from where the light in this picture is supposed to come. Try to give your hair more depth by working in more shadows and highlights. It will greatly improve its silky sine too.
And for that … strange background thing – leave it. Don’t go over the top with your accessories, try to concentrate on the required and you will do just fine. Your qualities as model are obvious, with such a face and a your good sense of movement, you should be in the elite of models.

LEOMA
Positive Feedback:
One of the few girls of the bunch, I love your red hair. You seem to skip into the picture, having a lot of fun with what you are doing. I like how you extended the ribbons of your shoes over the knees, so the eye of the viewer doesn’t stick only to your wonderfully picked skirt, but keeps wandering over the whole of your outfit.
Negative Feedback:
You look very skinny, girl. I understand, that the ‘Twiggy’-look of the sixties can be alluring to help you stand out from the other models, but watch your health! Your red hair, though wonderful in color, is a problem with the more purplish background, and I’m a bit taken off by you showing your teeth, it kind of makes me think you want to give the vampire here.
Suggested Improvements:
There are no grave mistakes in your edit, Leoma. To avoid an unhealthy skinny look, play around with the picture width. I love that hair of yours, but you shouldn’t hesitate to hue its color with the given surrounding colors and may desaturate a little. Last and this is very easily avoided, try to keep your teeth in a more subdued color, they should be in shadow here and hardly to be seen. It will make your face even lovelier.

LUCAS
Positive Feedback:
A new approach of the subject we have here. Lucas, with your boots and suspenders and your slightly sulking expression you managed to create the image of the good old country boy next door. It's always interesting to see a personality behind the model. I love your hair; it looks so soft and has a nice length to be styled in many different ways. And I’m also glad someone used the second background and interacted with the chair.
Negative Feedback:
The thing that bugs me about your picture, Lucas, are the proportions. Your body seems much stronger than your right arm and head. You took upon you the difficult enterprise to incorporate the background into your action, and it seems almost impossible to harmonize the photo of your body with the soft painted look of the background.
Suggested Improvements:
You staked yourself a huge challenge here. I’m not sure, how to advise you to bind together your body and the background. You probably should desaturate the color of your leggings and boots. Keep in mind that objects that are at the same distance from the camera (like the chair and your legs here) should show the same intensity in shadow and light.
The strong opaque color of your leggings makes your legs seem bigger than they are, which is probably the reason why your proportions seem a little off. As I looked over it more closely, I realized that you worked them out correctly.

MEREYA
Positive Feedback:
Mereya, you are wonderful, you perfectly balance the image of femme fatale with innocent girl. Your glance, the windblown attire and hair draw into the picture, although you stubbornly pursue your own way, standing at the edge of the scene. Your lacy bodice: that’s what I wanted to see in this round. And it goes so well with your soft skirt.
Negative Feedback:
What can I say negative about your picture? Only thing I find is that your right foot looks a bit too narrow, but this is really minor.
Suggested Improvements:
You totally stunned me with your picture, Mereya. This round brought out all your excellence and hit you right on character. I’m so excited to see how you will perform in different settings.

NICOLE
Positive Feedback:
Nicole, your pose really emphasizes the over-long pointed shoes, which were one of the essentials in this task, well done! Also I can see the dark thick brows that were required, and using them on a fair-haired girl changes the face a lot. I’m happy that you went for it anyway. And I love the care you put into details, like the shadows at your ankles.
Negative Feedback:
The edge of romance … Why do I get the feeling you are a little beyond romance all together? It’s you facing the camera full on. A front up stare lacks the softness your athletic pose would need to bring in the promise of romance. And you should watch your hair better, it looks somewhat unkempt.
Suggested Improvements:
Maybe you should have let your head fall back a little more, which would bring movement into your hair, one side reaching down half your back, the tips of the other side tickling your neck. And you should work more lights and shadows into your hair. Messy hair must not mean dull. With a little touch up, you should make a great model.

THOMAS
Positive Feedback:
Thomas, your body has so much potential. I like the lean guys, not too packed and yet tough. Your stomach and pelvis are something to treasure, and you artfully put them into scene here. I can see that dancing isn’t all alien to you, you fill the space with movement.
Negative Feedback:
You like strong colors, Thomas, I can tell. But I think you’ve overdone it a little here. Your bow jumps out too aggressively from the picture, although you wisely thought of balancing it with the color of your slip. And I’m sorry to see that grim look on your face, it’s so contradicting to your pose. The impression is even stronger since your head seems a little too big and at an awkward angle.
Suggested Improvements:
Watch your proportions; keep in mind that the head is about a seventh of your body length. There lies a difficulty in catching poses of great movement, for the eye can’t register all angles and positions of the limbs at once. The study of photographs of athletes in action and the work with reference pictures might help you to become more secure in this genre.
Next time subdue the color of your accessory, you don’t want us to be distracted too much from your obvious physical qualities.

BARRY

Positive
Such a dynamic pose! Love it! Can definitely feel the movement happening despite this being a still photo. Your body looks great, and the pants/boots are definitely working for you. You embrace the creative movement of a dancer while still retaining those rough edges.

Negative
Everything about the pose is stellar... except the angle of your head and the expression on your face. It breaks the line and spoils the fluidity of the pose a little bit.

Improvements:
Work on making everything cohesive, from the tips of your fingers to the soles of your shoes. That's something all dancers and models have in common, the ability to work the body as a whole to make one perfect picture.

DYLAN

Positive
Your body looks awesome, and whatever you did to make those muscles shine was right decision. Your expression really draws me in with that come-hither quality to it. Overall, it's a photo that is pleasing to look at.

Negative
The pose, while interesting, isn't what I imagined for this round. Nothing about it seems elegant, or dancer-esque at all. Part of the round was about showing grace while maintaining masculinity. The masculine side of you is definitely showing... but not so much the grace.

Improvements:
Pay close attention to the round directions and feel free to interpret as necessary, but only once the basic vision has already been fulfilled.

EVIA

Positive
Your pose is just excellent. The left leg in passe gives it the dancer-like quality, but the pose does more than just mimic a dancer's position. You've taken it and made it your own. It also shows off the skirt and shoes really well.

Negative
Your expression and hair leave a little to be desired. Not really sure what's happening with the eyes... you look half-asleep. The direction of the hair is a little confusing as well. It would have swung the other way for you to step into passe with the right foot, otherwise it would be limp and resting on your shoulder. But here there's definite movement and it looks odd.

Improvements:
Your face makes up such a small portion of the picture, yet has such a big impact. Put just as much effort into it as you would your pose. And pay close attention to moving poses and the effect they have on accessories and hair.

FLORIAN

Positive
Your outfit is great and your expression is just about perfect. Styling-wise I don't think I could have asked for any more.

Negative
The pose isn't doing it for me. A little too much biker and too little ballerina. It's very stagnant and chill, as opposed to dynamic.

Improvements:
Don't be afraid to take risks when it comes to posing. It's okay to mimic what you see from others, but not if it's something you've seen many many times before. It may be cliche, but step outside of the box.

HIKARU

Positive
The pose is fantastic and your body looks great. There's a nice contrast of hard and soft going on from top to bottom, but it still all ties together. Excellent work.

Negative
You look more like a dancer who's modeling for a photoshoot, than a model who's doing a dance-inspired photoshoot. Dance is about lines and perfection, but modeling doesn't have to be. Your legs look awesome, but the perfect symmetry is a little boring.

Improvements:
Remember that there is such a thing as being too perfect. Go for a pose and then radically change something about it just to see what it looks like. Sometimes it might look hideous, but other times you might stumble onto something even better than what you had originally.

KIM

Positive
Styling here was pretty good. The biker gloves are a nice touch and the leggings were a good decision. Your body looks nice, too.

Negative
Not a fan of the pose. There's very little movement here, it looks too theatrical, like a still shot taken during a monologue. I feel like you could have gotten more creative with those biker gloves.

Improvements:
Pay close attention to round instructions and looks at examples to draw inspiration. Ideally you should be even bigger and better than the examples ;)

LARA

Positive
There are a lot of angles going on here with your knees and elbows and feet, but it works. My eye never got bored and I wanted to take the time to absorb the pose fully.

Negative
Not so keen on the styling. The skirt has potential, but the top looks like it came from a bin of VS runway leftovers. The wind effect does look neat, but the hair needs more depth. Brighter brights and darker shadows.

Improvements:
Keep shading and shading and don't be afraid of extremes. Look at references especially for hands, since they look flat in this picture. Also pay closer attention to the examples when it comes to picking out an outfit.

LEOMA

Positive
Your choice of clothing is superb. That skirt is wonderful and your hair looks awesome as well.

Negative
The pose kills me a little. I told Hikaru not to be too perfect in regards to lines, but there is something to be said for a straight leg and a pointed foot, especially for a ballet/dance inspired photoshoot. Your feet especially look horrendous.

Improvements:
Ugly pretty works sometimes, but just plain pretty pretty works almost every time. Poses don't have to be perfect, but should still be aesthetically pleasing.

LUCAS

Positive
I'm absolutely crazy about your hair. It looks so natural, touchable, and soft. I also like your suspenders and the choice of bow was a good one.

Negative
Your pose appears very stiff and unnatural... robotic even. Not fulfilling the "ballerina" aspect of the photoshoot at all. The expression could also be a little more engaging as well.

Improvements:
Don't focus on moving individual parts to some random position, think about the entire pose and entire photo as a whole. The pose needs be cohesive and make sense.

MEREYA

Positive
That expression is very daring and really interacts beyond the lens and I love that. The best outfit and styling out of the bunch as well. Your skin looks flawless and the movement of the hair and skirt create a put-together look.

Negative
The left leg that's turned in looks broken, and I don't mean that figuratively. It looks like it needs a sling. Turning it out would have given your pose a dancer feel.

Improvements:
Before you consider yourself finished look over the whole photo and watch for the little things, because something as simple as the placement of an arm or leg can mar the rest of a perfectly beautiful photo.

NICOLE

Positive
Great pose here (great balance!) and great styling with the silk shirt and leggings.

Negative
Your head looks a little odd here, possibly because it's literally straight side, and most people don't have enough range of motion to completely turn their head to the side without considerable strain. The hair looks a bit flat, it needs darker shadows and brighter highlights.

Improvements:
Everything above the shoulders is just as important has what the body's doing, and incorrect proportions and angles are very noticeable.

eliminations.
The models wandered into the judging room, this time to face their elimination. It turned out that only one model would be evicted from the competition as the rankings were too close to cut any further. The remaining eleven would then receive the keys to their new model home.

Mereya

Hikaru

Barry, Dylan, Leoma

Kim

Nicole, Lucas

Lara

Florian

This leaves just Evia & Thomas. Only one of you will enter the model house with the eleven other models and progress in the competition.

Evia, whilst your picture this week showed effort, as an overall image it lacked something that the other models managed to present. You can't just be another model in the industry, another face. We need someone who will wow us.

Thomas, your picture this week didn't quite hit the mark. Whilst it followed the round guidelines, it was poorly executed and certain elements of your picture weren't to the judges' taste.

So, who leaves?

Thomas.
"I'm sorry, but your journey in the competition ends here. Thanks for competing. Work hard to improve on what we told you and hopefully you'll go further than this in your next competition.

"This means that Evia, you are safe. We didn't want to lose you, you have a lot of potential. Work hard next round."

The models watched as Thomas thanked Karlie and left the room silently. After a few moments silence, Karlie walked over to the group, a key in hand.

"This is the key...........to your new model house! You finally get to move in. Congratulations all of you.".

Woaaaaaahhhh Ryan this is amazing, I love those backgrounds! And lol at the "It is compulsory to have thick, dark, overly dramatic eyebrows, even if you're pale haired." *using bleached eyebrow girl*. Can't wait to start.

Edit: I can't see the second background, big version.

My model has piercing. Can I leave it on him or should I take it off?

Glad you like it guys!! :) :D

@Aluminiah: That's fine! Thanks for informing me :) See if you can get it donw next few days, if not let me know and I'll sort out an extension :)

@Dreamhuntress: That's entirely up to you :) If you would like to leave it in place, that's fine. It might actually work well with the round.

Also guys, it came to my attention that I might not have been totally clear on the lingerie/leggings part for the girls. Basically, your basic required outfit is the underwear, and the leggings. Your panties won't be showing because you're wearing leggings (unless they're slightly opaque ones), so it's mainly the bra you have to focus on. Other than that, and the shoes, you can layer any clothing you feel suitable on top, it's entirely up to you what you wear, and how much skin you show.

I'd also suggest fairly neutral/peach/pale pink underwear, as it's fitting with the coloring of the round, however you can totally take any form of lingerie that you like. You will of course be judged on your selection.

Any further questions, just ask :)

Thank you for clearing that up Ryan! I may need an extension as well! My cousin had her baby 3 weeks before she was due so my family booked a flight to NYC just now. We're leaving tonight and won't be back until Saturday night. DX

I'm working on my picture atm but just in case, you know?

The bow scarf? Well I had assumed it would go around the neck xD However, I won't make that compulsory if you want to put it elsewhere :D
